General donations support the work of Our House where resources are needed most. Unlike a contribution to a specific campaign, this fund is not restricted to one project and can be used across our human rights, humanitarian, peacebuilding and organisational work.
What your donation supports
- Human rights protection and legal support. Case work, legal coordination, documentation, translations and practical assistance for people facing repression or rights violations.
- Refugee and humanitarian support. Temporary accommodation, basic necessities, transport and emergency assistance for people rebuilding their lives in safety.
- Support for conscientious objectors. Shelter, legal and practical support during asylum and protection procedures, including document and translation costs.
- Children and families. Safe spaces, educational and creative activities, and practical support for refugee children and their families.
- Monitoring, research and advocacy. Documentation of human rights issues, monitoring reports, policy submissions, public information and international advocacy based on our case work.
- Peacebuilding and nonviolence. Educational, civic and public initiatives that support nonviolent approaches, dialogue and peacebuilding.
- Core organisational capacity. Rent, utilities, secure digital infrastructure, communications, administration and the other operational costs required to keep this work functioning.
Why unrestricted support matters
Some needs are urgent, small or difficult to fund through a dedicated campaign. Unrestricted donations give Our House the flexibility to respond to immediate cases, keep essential services running between project grants, and direct resources to the areas with the greatest current operational or humanitarian need.
When a separate fundraising campaign is created for a specific purpose, donations to that campaign are handled according to its stated goal. Donations made on this page support the wider work of Our House.
